How do I use this tool?

Accepted Answer

Enter the student's name, class, term, and the assessment name. Then for each subject, enter the raw mark and what it was out of (e.g. 22 out of 25). The percentage, CBC grade, points, and remarks (Exceeding / Meeting / Approaching / Below Expectations) are computed automatically. Hit 'Print / Save PDF' to save the report.

How are marks converted to CBC grades?

On the 4-band rubric: 76–100% is EE (Exceeding Expectations, 4 points), 51–75% is ME (Meeting Expectations, 3 points), 26–50% is AE (Approaching Expectations, 2 points), 0–25% is BE (Below Expectations, 1 point). The 8-point KJSEA scale splits each band into two sub-levels (EE1/EE2, ME1/ME2, AE1/AE2, BE1/BE2). Toggle the scale at the top of the form.

Which grading scale should my school use?

Primary schools (Pre-Primary, Lower Primary, Upper Primary) typically use the 4-band rubric. Junior Secondary (Grades 7–9) uses the new KJSEA 8-point scale introduced for the 2024 KJSEA assessment. Both are supported here — toggle at the top.

Is this an official Ministry of Education report card?

No. This is a layout preview tool to help schools visualise a CBC-style report card. The structure mirrors the Elimikasasa-generated report card (the platform schools use in production), but it is not certified by the Ministry of Education or KNEC. Use it for planning, training, and demonstrating to parents — not as an official record.
